Sphynx cats are one of the most unique cat breeds because if we look at the naked eye, this cat really looks like it has no fur on its body.
But if you look in detail, it actually exists, only the number is really very small, so it is almost invisible. Especially if those who usually keep Angora cats or something like that, might be surprised.
Sphynx Cat
Quoted to Wikipedia, the origin of the Sphynx Cat is from the Toronto Canada area and was discovered in 1966. So if you think it came from Egypt, you’re wrong. Although it does use the name Sphynx which is identical to the land of Egypt.
If you want to know the history of the discovery of this cat, then we can start from the beginning, where at that time there was a pair of local cats who successfully gave birth to kittens without fur.
Then over time, in 1970, CFA as one of the world’s worm organizations, finally decided to breed this breed under the name Canadian Hairless.
But unfortunately, after running for some time, they realized that there were problems related to the cat’s health that was very serious. Therefore, CFA finally ended the breeding efforts of the breed, and it was left extinct without having any more descendants.

Then in 1975, farm owners in Minnesota named Milt and Ethelyn managed to find two more hairless kittens born to a domestic cat mother like the original case.
Then the two cats were purchased by breeders (professional cat breeders) for breeding and crossing in order to obtain breeds that did not have fatal health problems.
And the peak they tried to breed the children of the two hairless cats with the Devon rex breed, in order to have a lineage of hairless cats with good health genes.
The results of the experiment turned out to actually produce hairless kittens with normal health, and the kittens were introduced to the world under the name “Sphynx Cat”.
Then since then, the descendants of this cat have been crossed several times with the Devon rex breed, to get better cat genes.
And it is the children of these crosses that are the ancestors of today’s Sphynx.
